Michele Pierson is a multidisciplinary visual artist born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. Her oil paintings and multimedia assemblages explore the metaphysical realm and subjective realities related to dreams, astrology, divination, and the enigmatic moments of daily life.
Prior to joining BlackStar, Michele worked in the commercial fine art industry as a secondary market project manager at Artsy and in the nonprofit art sector in Development at both the Institute of Contemporary Art at UPenn and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
Michele attended Spelman College and received her B.A. in Studio Art & Art History. It was during her time at Spelman where Michele’s passion for contemporary art produced by Black, Brown, and Indigenous artists was born and cultivated — a passion she plans to further support through resource mobilization and community building at BlackStar.
