Zeinabu irene Davis discusses the concept of film rejuvenation in the process of preparing her film Compensation (1999) for the Criterion Collection. “Restoration” implies returning something to its original state. Rejuvenation, on the other hand, describes an infusion of new life into film using contemporary technologies and resources. For a film to be rejuvenated, we have to understand it as a living thing around which people continue to tend and contribute to, rather than a static object.
