In-Person

With Chica Andrade, Jazmin Jones, Neema Githere Siphon, moderated by Sarah Jackson

This panel will explore the relationship between Black folks and the digital world. We will discuss how the Black community — particularly Black women and nonbinary people — use the internet as a vital resource for seeking support, and advocating for social justice, while also addressing the significant safety and privacy concerns that arise. We’d like to unpack the dual-edged nature of the internet, highlighting it as a tool but also revealing the vulnerabilities and threats that Black people specifically face.

She has curly, medium-length hair that transitions from dark brown at the roots to a vivid orange midway down, adorned with several small hairpins. She is looking directly at the camera with a calm yet slightly intense expression. She wears large, thin, gold hoop earrings, and a deep red garment draped around her right shoulder.
