BlackStar Film Festival is an annual celebration of the visual and storytelling traditions of the African diaspora and of global communities of color, showcasing films by Black, Brown and Indigenous people from around the world.
BlackStar is seeking a CHILDCARE PROVIDER to provide care for children of filmmakers and special guests during the 2025 festival. The Childcare Provider will report to the Operations Director and will work closely with the Hospitality Coordinator.
Responsibilities Include:
- Provides childcare for children individually and in small groups at pre-arranged times during festival week.
- Maintains a friendly, knowledgeable, and professional attitude to promote a positive festival experience.
Skills Required:
- Experience providing care for children of various ages.
- A commitment to radical hospitality.
- Ability to work as a team member and/or work independently and take initiative as appropriate.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to act quickly in a fast-paced environment.
Compensation & Schedule:
Compensation is $30 per hour when caring for one child, $35 per hour when caring for two children, and $40 per hour when caring for 3 children. Total compensation will be determined by the final childcare schedule. This is a contracted position working July 31, 2025 to August 3, 2025 with some evenings and a weekend required. Candidates are expected to attend an in-person all-staff orientation that will be scheduled for one evening in July and participate in a 1-hour virtual debrief meeting in September. Preference for Philadelphia-area candidates.
